Fulvio Tessitore
Fulvio Tessitore (born May 10, 1937 in Naples ) is an Italian philosopher , historian and politician .
Tessitore studied at the University of Naples , where he was a student of Pietro Piovani , among others . After receiving his doctorate on a legal philosophical topic, he taught as a lecturer at the universities of Salerno and Naples from 1964 . From 1978 to 1993 he was President of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Naples, from 1993 to 2001 its Rector.
Tessitore's main areas of work are historicism and authors such as Giambattista Vico , Wilhelm von Humboldt and Friedrich Meinecke . Since 1970 he has been editor of the "Bollettino del Centro di Studi Vichiani" and since 1988 of the "Archivio di Storia della Cultura".
He taught as a guest lecturer at the universities of Caracas, Valencia, Salamanca, Nuremberg-Erlangen, Düsseldorf, Halle-Wittenberg, Braunschweig and at the " Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa ".
Tessitore was Senator of the Republic of Italy from 2001 to 2005 and a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Democratici di Sinistra - L'Ulivo ) from 2005 to 2007 .
