Rotunda of the radio house on Dornbusch

The Funkhaus am Dornbusch is the seat and transmission center of the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt-Nordend , on the border with Frankfurt-Dornbusch . A large part of the editorial rooms and radio and television studios for six radio waves and radio television are located here.

The historic rotunda, which was built in 1949 according to plans by Gerhard Weber , was originally intended as a plenary hall for the future German Bundestag . After the capital issue of the Federal Republic of Germany had been decided in favor of Bonn as the federal capital , the shell was converted into a studio building. In 1954 the large broadcasting hall was built behind it. This radio broadcasting studio has space for 850 people and acts as a rehearsal and recording stage for the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra . A concert organ is installed above the stage . The 1957 Eurovision de la Chanson Grand Prix took place in the broadcasting hall .
