The Future 48 bulk carrier from the Japanese shipbuilding company IHI was built over a dozen times in a series.

The Future 48 series was designed by IHI on the basis of the existing Future 42 model and built from 1999 to 2004 at the Group's own shipyards for several shipping companies. The ships are as Handymax - bulk carriers with aft mounted constructions designed. They have five holds , each with their own hatch, the hatch covers of which are hydraulically operated. Four hydraulic ship cranes mounted amidships are available for cargo handling . The entire loading space volume is 61,553 m³ for bulk goods and 59,84461,553 m³ for bale space. With a draft of 10.70 m, this type of ship can transport around 44,000 tons and with a maximum unloading of 11.70 m 49,360 tons. The units are designed for the transport of various bulk goods , such as grain, coal, minerals, including various dangerous goods. The tank roof of the cargo hold is reinforced for the transport of ore. In addition, bagged goods, steel profiles, tubes and other bulk cargo can be transported, but no deck loads.

The ships are powered by a two - stroke diesel engine . The engine enables a speed of around 14  knots . Several auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator are available.
