Gæti eins verið ... is the fourth music album by the Icelandic rock band Þursaflokkurinn . For the first time a very clear style change from progressive rock to simple, commercial new wave / rock can be noticed, which suddenly changed the musical target group of the band. Like the band's first album, "Gæti eins verið ..." (or Gaeti eins verid ... , as it is written in a simplified way) reached number 1 on the Icelandic album hit parade in the year of its release.
overview
The music on Gæti eins verið ... is much more direct and also darker than the band's other albums. This can mainly be traced back to the departure of bassoonist Rúnar Vilbergsson and Hammond organist Karl Sighvattson as well as the addition of the then modern keyboards.
The first song, Pínulítill karl , which is very similar to the other songs on the album, clearly sounds like music from the 1980s with its funky rhythm, although the acoustic guitar still comes into play here.
Gegnum holt og hæðir was already the soundtrack of the musical "Grettir" in 1980 in a slightly modified form, in which the band was jointly responsible for the soundtrack.
The last song on the CD, Ranimosk , which was also the last piece of music released by the group until February 2008, is the only song on the album that ties in with the band's early phase with its length and the gently marching rhythm.
Re-releases
The LP, released in 1982, was also released as a CD in the early 1990s and is also in the Þursar anniversary box released in 2008, whose bonus CD Ókomin forneskjan also features numerous demos and live versions of some of the songs it contains.
