Gémeos is a place and a former municipality in northern Portugal .
history
The current place was probably created during the new settlements in connection with the medieval Reconquista .
It was not until 2011 that the district's water supply and sewer system were connected , until then the traditional drinking water wells and cesspools had been used in Gémeos .
In the course of the territorial reform in Portugal in 2013 , the independent municipality of Gémeos was dissolved and incorporated into the new overall municipality of Britelo, Gémeos e Ourilhe .

Gémeos was the seat of a parish of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Celorico de Basto in the Braga district . The community had 645 inhabitants and an area of 4.02 km² (as of June 30, 2011).

With the administrative reorganization on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Ourilhe , Britelo and Gémeos were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Britelo, Gémeos e Ourilhe . Britelo became the seat of the municipality
