Gérard Gropaiz
Gérard Gropaiz (born August 1, 1943 in Paris ; † October 6, 2012 ) was a French swimmer .
Gropaiz started for Racing CF Paris . At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , he was eliminated from both the 100 m freestyle and the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay in the preliminary round. Along with Robert Christophe , Jean-Pascal Curtillet and Alain Gottvallès, Gropaiz was part of the French 4 × 100 m freestyle relay that swam the world record time of 3: 42.5 minutes on August 10, 1962 in Thionville . In the same line-up, the French relay team was victorious a few days later at the 1962 European Swimming Championships in Leipzig , taking silver in the 4 × 200 m freestyle. At the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo he qualified for the semi-finals over 100 m freestyle, with the French 4 × 100 m freestyle relay he was disqualified in the final.
