The Göritz is a six kilometer long, left tributary of the Steinach in the Thuringian Slate Mountains .

The Göritz rises north of the Kieferle near the town of Steinheid at an altitude of about 775 meters. It then forms a gorge-like , steep valley in a south-easterly direction, in which the state road from Steinheid to Steinach runs. It flows into the Steinach from the left at the Göritzmühle north of Steinach at an altitude of 524 meters .
