Eriksson won at the European Championships in Ghent in 1955 the silver medal in the four with helmsman together with Evert Gunnarsson , Olof Larsson , Ivar Aronsson and helmsman Bertil Göransson behind the Argentines and in front of the Finns. All five also belonged to the Swedish eighth , which also won silver behind the boat from the Soviet Union.

In the following year, the five Swedes also competed in both boat classes at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 . In the foursome they won the silver medal behind the Italians and in front of the Finns. The Swedish eight finished fourth behind boats from the United States, Canada and Australia.

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , Eriksson and Lennart Hansson competed in two without a helmsman . The two took last place in their preliminary run and did not take part in the hope race. Together with Owe Lostad , they also started in two with a helmsman . Here they took third place in the preliminary run and were eliminated fourth in their reunion.

Eriksson's parent club was the Trollhättans roddsällskap , only in 1955 and 1956 did he row with his successful crew at the Roddklubben Three Towns in Kungälv. Eriksson was versatile as a rower; he won Swedish championship titles in all Olympic boat classes, both in the scull boat and in the oar boat .
