Ivar Aronsson

Ivar Mauritz Aronsson (born March 24, 1928 in Romelanda in the municipality of Kungälv ; † February 6, 2017 in the municipality of Kungälv ) was a Swedish rower .

Ivar Aronsson from the Roddklubben Three Towns in Kungälv won the silver medal in the foursome with helmsman together with Olof Larsson , Gösta Eriksson , Evert Gunnarsson and helmsman Bertil Göransson behind the Argentines and in front of the Finns at the European Championships in Ghent in 1955 . All five also belonged to the Swedish eighth , which also won silver behind the boat from the Soviet Union.

In the following year, the five Swedes also competed in both boat classes at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 . In the foursome they won the silver medal behind the Italians and in front of the Finns. The Swedish eight finished fourth behind boats from the United States, Canada and Australia.

Ivar Aronsson won a total of 13 Swedish championship titles and was also successful as a senior athlete in later years.
