The Gothenburg- class is a class of corvettes in the Swedish Navy .

In the years 1990-1993 a total of four ships were built. As a versatile weapon, they can be used for a wide range of tasks. They are designed for anti-submarine hunting and mine-laying and , despite their small size, may even outperform foreign anti-submarine fighters or frigates . The Gothenburg class is equipped with both maritime and aerial reconnaissance radar and equipment for targeting foreign radar . It also has a modern weapon system that can evaluate one or more threats without human control and automatically initiate suitable countermeasures. For submarine hunting, it has a long-frequency tow sonar and short-frequency sonar in the ship's hull for identification and targeting.
