Gotzenbrühl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Götzenbrühl , formerly also called Kunzenbrühl or Bölle, is a small volcanic vent near the town of Owen in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg . The volcanic vent is located at the foot of the Teckberg , which is north of the Albtrauf in the foreland of the Swabian Alb .

geology

Götzenbrühl is a volcanic tuffite deposit . It originated in the Miocene when one of the volcanic vents of the Swabian volcano paved its way through the surrounding rock. The harder rocks of Götzenbrühl were exposed through erosion of the softer surrounding material. Inside the tuffitic rock there is an olivinmelilithitic core, which was formerly known as basalt and was mined for gravel extraction. In its neighborhood is the Hohenbol , which is also of volcanic origin.
