Günter Grass Prize
The Günter Grass Prize is a literary prize for contemporary writers whose works deal productively and critically with the socio-political conditions of their time. It is awarded in Lübeck .
As the only significant literary prize in Germany, it is awarded “By authors for authors”. This was the name of the award until 2017. On the initiative of Günter Grass , the group of authors of the Lübeck Literature Meeting 2011 awarded it for the first time together with the Kulturstiftung Hansestadt Lübeck , the umbrella association of Lübeck museums. The amount of the prize money is not fixed as it is raised by the participants in the literary meeting. The prize is awarded every two years. The writers Michael Kumpfmüller , Benjamin Lebert , Eva Menasse , Tilman Spengler , Dagmar Leupold , Feridun Zaimoglu , Norbert Niemann , Fridolin Schley , Ingo Schulze and Sherko Fatah are an integral part of the Lübeck literary meeting .
As of 2017, the award will be officially called the Günter Grass Award. The first winner under this name was Katja Lange-Müller .

- 2011: Günter Herburger . The laudation was given by Tilman Spengler and the prize was awarded on January 30, 2011 in Lübeck.
- 2013: Ernst Augustin . The laudation was given on January 23rd by Sherko Fatah .
- 2015: Irina Liebmann . The laudation was given on March 1st by Dagmar Leupold .
- 2017: Katja Lange-Müller . Eva Menasse gave the laudation on February 19, 2017 .
- 2019: Jens Sparschuh . The laudation was given on January 27, 2019 by Ingo Schulze , Thomas Hettche (representing Dagmar Leupold ), Zora del Buono , Eva Menasse and Tilman Spengler .
