Günter Gliemann (born December 22, 1931 in Dresden ; † October 26, 1990 ) was a German chemist ( theoretical chemistry ). He was a professor at the University of Regensburg .

From 1950 Gliemann studied physics at the TH Dresden with a diploma in physical chemistry with Kurt Schwabe in 1955 (on the heat of combustion of the isomeric hexachlorocyclohexanes). In 1955 he was at the Research Institute for Chemical Technology in Meinsberg . In 1956 he went to the Federal Republic of Germany as a physicist at the Hartmann und Braun company in Frankfurt and at the same time received his doctorate in physical chemistry in 1957 with Hermann Hartmann at the University of Frankfurt. In 1960 he became an assistant there and completed his habilitation in 1965 (on the interpretation of the ultraviolet absorption spectra of binary ion crystals). In 1967 he became a full professor for special physical chemistry at the TU Berlin and in 1970 professor for theoretical chemistry at the University of Regensburg . In 1970/71 and 1972/73 he was department spokesman for chemistry and, as this, member of the Senate (which he was also from 1982 to 1984).
