The Geißenbach rises in the Bad Münstereifel city forest near the Tönnes chapel . The source is located about 500 m west of the Knippberg ( 537.3  m ) in the Bad Münstereifel area at an altitude of about  497  m above sea level. NHN . From here the stream flows north, after a short run it crosses state road 234 . It then flows east parallel to state road 498 and passes the Bad Münstereifel districts of Scheuerheck , Wald and Limbach at some distance . As the Houverather Bach (1.0 km - 0.0 km) it flows north of the Houverath district into the Sahrbach Ahr tributary coming from the north .

Catchment area and tributaries

On its 9.4 km long path, the stream overcomes a difference in altitude of 167 meters, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 17.7 ‰. The 10.4 km² catchment area is drained to the North Sea via Sahrbach , Ahr and Rhine .
