Houverath is a district of Bad Münstereifel in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia .

location

The place is east of the core town of Bad Münstereifel. State road 497 runs through it . The Houverather Bach flows on the outskirts and joins the Winkelbach , which later flows into the Ahr as the Sahrbach .

history

The place Houverath was first mentioned in 1190. At that time, Houverath had been in the possession of the Count of Vianden for 200 years. The sovereignty changed a good 200 years later, to the Count of Blankenheim. In 1794 he had to relinquish sovereignty after the French invaded the Rhineland.

At this time the place Limbach and Houverath formed a judicial district. On July 1, 1969, the previously independent municipality of Houverath was incorporated into Bad Münstereifel.

The RVK line taxi on lines 828 and 802 drives through the town. There is a Catholic primary school and a two-group kindergarten in the village , which is run by the city. A sports and multi-purpose hall is available for local clubs. The parish church is dedicated to St. Thomas. 15 dead rest on the war cemetery .

The listed old St. Thomas Church , which served as the parish church until the consecration of the new one in 1913, is worth seeing .

There is a carnival club with three gardens in Houverath. Below the village, on the Houverather Bach, is the permanent campsite of the Kölner Camping Club eV
