The place is 17 kilometers south of the core town of Bad Münstereifel. The district road  55 runs through the village from Esch to Ohlerath . The state of Rhineland-Palatinate borders to the south .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1138.

Hilterscheid belonged to the independent community of Mutscheid until it was incorporated into Bad Münstereifel on July 1, 1969.
