history

Closing verses from the third fire letter from the robber Johann Müller from Schönau

During the French period around 1800, Soller suffered from the pranks of the notorious robber Johann Müller from Schönau . When the mayor of Soller put up night watch after an attack on the neighboring Esch , Müller demanded in a fire letter that the measure be withdrawn and threatened to burn down both places. After he set fire to a bakery in Soller and wrote another ransom note, the two communities actually entered into negotiations with Müller and offered him protection money.

Soller belonged to the independent municipality of Mutscheid until it was incorporated into Bad Münstereifel on July 1, 1969.

Chapel of St. John

There was a chapel in Soller until the 1840s , which had to be closed because it was dilapidated. In 1953, construction work began elsewhere on a new chapel, which was consecrated to St. John in 1956 . For many years the Soller native and resident Monsignor Peter Lessenich celebrated regular masses here. The small bell tower houses a 20 kg bell , of which neither the year of casting nor the manufacturer is known.
