history

Gilsdorf was first listed as Geslichesthorph in a deed of gift from Emperor Lothar I in 846 . The place was also mentioned in the property register of the Prüm Abbey from 893, this time under the name kelichesdorpht .

Gilsdorf belonged to the independent municipality of Nöthen until it was incorporated into Bad Münstereifel on July 1, 1969.

The RVK line taxi 891 drives through the town. Gilsdorf had to go through the flood on 27./28. September 2007 to be partially evacuated. The heavy rain in the Euskirchen district resulted in the largest deployment of aid organizations in North Rhine-Westphalia to date .
