The Tobiášův vrch (German Tobiaschberg , 354 m) is an inconspicuous elevation in the so-called Launer part of the Bohemian Central Mountains ( České středohoří ) in the Czech Republic . The mountain has been a nature reserve since 1936.

Location and surroundings

Tobiášův vrch is located about ten kilometers south of Bílina ( Bilin ) and eight kilometers east of Most ( Brüx ) in the Bohemian Central Uplands on the left Elbe. To the east is the small town of Kozly ( Kosel ), to the south the municipality of Bělušice ( Bieloschitz ). Neighboring mountains are the Dlouhá hora ( Gluha ), the Chrámecký vrch ( Schenkenberg ), the Číčov ( Spitzberg ) and the Milá ( Millayer ).

Tobiášův vrch was placed under state protection as early as 1936 because of its special flora. In 1951 the protection status was renewed and the hilltop was declared a natural monument on 0.56 hectares. An area characterized by dry grass is under protection , which is home to many rare heat-loving plants. Because of the special natural features, the mountain is a total reserve , entering the area is not permitted.

Protected plants typical of Tobiášův vrch include: a. Spring Adonis flower ( Adonis vernalis ), the pasque flower ( Pulsatilla patens ), the endemic Bohemian pasque flower ( Pulsatilla pratensis bohemica ), the real cowslip ( Primula veris ) and the real feather grass ( Stipa pennata ).
