Lanzerath is a district of Bad Münstereifel in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia .

The place is east of the core town of Bad Münstereifel. The district road 52 runs through the village. The border to the neighboring state of Rhineland-Palatinate runs on the southern edge of the village .
history
A Roman signal system was discovered on the Hochthürmenberg to the south .
Lanzerath was first mentioned in a document in 1473.
On December 16, 1944, the first day of the Ardennes offensive , Lanzerath was captured by Wehrmacht troops. At the end of January 1945, Lanzerath was captured by US troops.
Lanzerath belonged to the independent municipality of Houverath until it was incorporated into Bad Münstereifel on July 1, 1969 .
