history

In the nearby forest in the direction of the village of Scheuren and the Steinbachtalsperre , the National Socialists set up a forced labor camp in which up to 300 Soviet prisoners of war were temporarily held.

The syringe house, built around the turn of the 20th century in the center of the village, was converted into a chapel by the residents in the 1960s under the direction of the architect Siegfried Bucher . Since the renovation, a solemn procession to the Maria Laach Abbey near Mendig has taken place every year, which, in addition to the villagers, regularly attracts numerous visitors from the surrounding villages.

Maulbach belonged to the independent municipality of Houverath until it was incorporated into Bad Münstereifel on July 1, 1969.
