Sasserath is a district of Bad Münstereifel in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia and belonged to the independent municipality of Mutscheid until it was incorporated into Bad Münstereifel on July 1, 1969.

location

The place is 12 km south of downtown Bad Münstereifel. The district road 55 runs past the village from Esch to Ohlerath . To the south the place borders on the districts of Heistert and Pitscheid in the Rhineland-Palatinate local community of Hümmel . Sasserath has six streets. In the upper part, Hochstraße, Fasanenweg and Heckenweg, in the center of the village Lenzstraße and Heinestraße and below, Nussbaumstraße. The village's sledge mountain, which begins between Hochstrasse 18 and 16 and ends in Lenzstrasse, is called Pädchen.

Village community

The community center is the village community center. Originally, it was a cold store where farmers used to store their slaughtered goods. After the incorporation, the cold store became the property of the city of Bad Münstereifel. In the early 1990s the cold store was completely neglected and was about to be demolished. Some committed villagers founded a village association at the last minute, so to speak, which rented the cold store on a long-term basis, but had to maintain and renovate it themselves. The renovation of the building was done with a handful of committed villagers on their own initiative. Most of the costs for this were borne by individual members of the village association.

Others

In the village, the RVK bus line 822 goes to Bad Münstereifel, Ohlerath and twice a day to Adenau Ohlenhard. The TaxiBusPlus is available. The primary school children are brought to the Catholic primary school St. Helena in Mutscheid.
