Herschfeld is a district of the city of Bad Neustadt an der Saale , the district town of the Rhön-Grabfeld district . The place was incorporated on July 1, 1972.

The name is derived from Hiruzfeld (Hiruz = millet, possibly also Hiruz = deer).

Education and religion

The children of the parish village of Herschfeld attend the Catholic kindergarten in Herschfeld. Herschfeld also has the Herschfeld Association School, a primary school. Herschfeld has an old and a new church, both of which are dedicated to St. Nicholas .

Association

In Herschfeld there is a volunteer fire brigade and numerous other clubs, including the sports club SV Herschfeld and the Kolping Society .

Say

According to a legend, a female ghost roams between Herschfeld and Heustreu on stormy nights . It is the soul of a woman who, out of love, followed a Swedish soldier during the Thirty Years' War, leaving behind her two children who starved to death left alone.
