Günter H. Müller

Günter H. Müller (* 1949 in Werther (Westphalia) ) is a German composer.

Life

Günter H. Müller was born in Werther / Westphalia in 1949 and has lived in Schwerte since 1973 . After his musical training at the city conservatory in Dortmund and further training at the Bergische Musikakademie, Günter H. Müller concentrated on both contemporary chamber music and the traditional music of ancient cultures in Asia and Australia . His works for the Japanese ZEN flute Shakuhachi , the Australian didgeridoo or the Indian bansoori combine modern playing technique with old musical tradition. Several compositions for these unusual instruments are performed about 150 times in public.

Müller has u. a. written a textbook for didgeridoo , in which a separate notation for this very old wind instrument of the Aborigines , the Australian natives, is presented: Didgeridoo - learn to play from the gut. The second edition was published by Blow Till Midnight-Musikverlag, Dortmund ( ISBN 3-933950-03-1 ). The playing and breathing technique are explained in detail on over 100 pages, numerous exercises and tips for playing together with other musicians, together with the CD provided, convey basic knowledge for ambitious didgeridoo players. He has published several records with his own works, including a. Blue Cave (BTM 008, LC 10394), ZEN Jazz (duo with Christian Bollmann , Lichthaus Music, LC 05739), Smouldering Fire (Tr Tr 006), Kristalle (CD BTM 004) and is a guest musician on recordings by domestic and foreign artists to be heard (among others together with Louis Virie Blanche (USA), Stefan Heidtmann , Christian Bollmann, Hakim Ludin, Crazy Chris Kramer ). The CD "Journey" by Crazy Chris Kramer (LC 10394, BTM 005), on which GH Müller plays the didgeridoo and double bass, was produced by Helge Schneider , who can also be heard on some tracks. Müller launched the cave concerts in the Dechenhöhle Iserlohn in 1996 and organizes these concerts and music tours himself, which have already been reported on several times by WDR and DLF. Well-known musicians from the USA (Tony Liotta), from Korea (Nam Sook Kim) and Mongolia (Hosoo's Trans Mongolia) performed together with Günter H. Müller at these cave concerts. The music tours through the Dortmund coking plant Hansa and the dark concerts in the Dechenhöhle and the stalactite cave Schulerloch were also introduced by Müller and each year attract numerous visitors from neighboring countries.

Radio and television reports about Günter H. Müller and his music were broadcast by ARD, WDR, BR, SWF, RBB, SFB, DLF and various local channels.

Günter H. Müller is also a graduate civil engineer. Among other things, his office remodeled the German Cave Museum , which opened in 2006 .
