Günter Mohr

Günter Mohr (born December 14, 1950 in Crailsheim ) is a German karateka and holder of the 9th Dan in Shotokan karate . From 1980 to 2001 Mohr was national karate trainer ( Kumite ) for the Federal Republic of Germany .

biography

At the age of 16 Mohr began karate training in a karate school in Stuttgart. After completing his technical college entrance qualification, he studied computer science in Konstanz. The Ravensburg karate and judo club, which today has over 2,500 members, was founded in 1978 by Günter Mohr in Ravensburg and shortly afterwards became a state and national karate center.

From 1980 to 2001 Günter Mohr was national trainer in the German Karate Association (DKV).

Günter Mohr founded the Shotokan Karate Academy. This seminar offers individual training in the areas of Kihon, Kumite and Kata. Mohr has been the organizer and trainer of karate events and courses for years.

Sporting successes

Mohr was vice world champion in 1977. Günter Mohr was German university champion in 1975 and 1979. From 1974 to 1980 he was multiple German champion. At the European Karate Championships in Brussels in 1972 , Mohr won the bronze medal in the middleweight division and was part of the Tokyo Vice World Champion team in 1977 .

Mohr was the national coach of the German national karate team from 1980 to 2001. With him as a trainer, the German national karate team celebrated successes at European and world championships and many world cups. A highlight was the Karate World Cup 2000 in the Olympiahalle in Munich, the most successful in the history of German karate. From 2010 to 2018 Günter Mohr worked as a state trainer for the performance class in the Karate Association of Baden-Württemberg (KVBW).
