Günter Sheikh
Günter Scheich (born April 26, 1956 in Eiterfeld ) is a German psychotherapist and writer . He works as a resident psychotherapist.
Life
Günter Scheich was born in Eiterfeld / Fulda. He studied psychology with a focus on clinical psychology in Marburg . He completed his studies in 1984 with a thesis on "Cognitive Distortions and Depression". His doctorate as Dr. rer. nat. took place in 1991 with the thesis "Psychological and psychoimmunological factors in atopic dermatitis" at the University of Marburg. Scheich completed his training as a behavior therapist at the Institute for Behavioral Therapy in Marburg and at the Cologne Learning Institute for Behavioral Therapy. He also carried out a psychodrama training at the Hardtwaldkinik Zwesten. He obtained his license to practice as a psychological psychotherapist in 1999 . Since 1994 he has been established as a psychotherapist in his own practice with a focus on behavior therapy .
In addition to professional activities since 1984, especially in psychiatric and psychotherapeutic clinics, since 1987 he has been the head psychologist in a psychosomatic and behavioral medical specialist clinic for skin and allergy diseases (Nordseeklinik Norderney). In addition, from 1990 he was a member of the German Society for Behavioral Medicine and Behavior Modification (DGVM) for many years.
Sheikh is a representative of a cognitive behavioral therapy approach. Günter Scheich received a lot of attention as the author of several popular scientific works . In his books he deals, among other things, with the negative consequences of positive thinking . Günter Scheich is also in demand as a lecturer , speaker and interview partner.
Sheikh has been married since 2002 and has two children.
