Günter Wöller

Günter Wöller becomes East German champion in the 5000 meter run in 1952

Günter Wöller (born August 19, 1922 ) is a former German athlete from the German Democratic Republic (GDR). In 1952 he was GDR champion in the 5000 meter run , and in 1953 GDR champion in the forest run .

Wöller, himself deaf , was a leading participant in the founding of the “General German Deaf Association” (ADGV) on May 31, 1957 in Halle an der Saale . He was elected its first president and held this office until 1960. After German reunification , he was honored in 1992 with the Heinrich Siepmann plaque of the German Deaf Sports Association .
