Günter Willegger
Günter Willegger (born April 10, 1953 in Villach ) is an Austrian bank director and politician ( BZÖ , previously FPÖ or SPÖ ). Willegger was a member of the Carinthian state parliament from 2004 to 2009 .
Willegger has been with the Austrian National Bank in Klagenfurt since May 1981 . In December 1998, he was promoted to head of the branch. Since March 2000 Willegger has also been President of the Board of Trustees Safe Austria in Carinthia and in May 2003 received the Great Merit of the State of Carinthia .
Willegger is an avowed social democrat and was a member of the Klagenfurt SPÖ until 2001 . After not paying his membership fee, he was removed from the membership list. Two years later he brought himself into play for the office of Klagenfurt SPÖ mayor candidate, but failed due to resistance from Klagenfurt SPÖ party leader Ewald Wiedenbauer. In 2004, Jörg Haider surprisingly presented Willegger as a FPÖ candidate for the 2004 state elections. On March 31, 2004, he entered the Carinthian state parliament as a member of the FPÖ, but like almost all FPÖ members of the state parliament, he switched to the BZÖ in the course of the split. Willegger was the BZÖ area spokesman for health / disabled people and Europe.
After the state elections in 2009, he withdrew from state politics.
Willegger is divorced and has a son. He lives in Klagenfurt.
