Günter Zimmermann

Günter Zimmermann (born September 11, 1914 in Danzig ; † November 2, 1972 in Großhansdorf ) was a German American scholar .

Life

After receiving his doctorate on July 21, 1952 in Hamburg (analysis of the forms and concepts of the hieroglyphs of the three Mayan manuscripts, with special consideration of the Dresden manuscript. A contribution to Central American antiquity) and his habilitation in 1957, he taught there from 1957 to 1963 as a private lecturer in ethnology , from 1963 to 1965 as an adjunct professor for ethnology and from 1965 to 1972 as a full professor for ancient American languages ​​and cultures.
