Günther Christian Hansen

Günther Christian Hansen (born December 13, 1929 in Wyk auf Föhr ; † August 25, 2013 in Schönow ) was a German classical philologist .

Life

Günther Christian Hansen studied Classical Philology at the University of Rostock and then worked from 1952 as a research assistant at the Berlin Academy of Sciences , initially on the project The Greek Christian Writers of the First Centuries . In 1960 he was at the Humboldt University of Berlin with a thesis studies on the church historian Sozomen doctorate . He achieved his habilitation in 1969 with the work The Church History of Theodoros Anagnostes . After his habilitation, he was editor of the Bibliotheca Teubneriana and the writings and sources of the Old World . From 1990 to 1995 he worked again on the project The Greek Christian Writers of the First Centuries . Until 1999 he also held reading exercises on Greek prose at the Humboldt University (since 1995 as an honorary professor ).

Hansen's research focus was the history of the Church in Greece, especially from the point of view of textual criticism and tradition. In 1998 the publication Dissertatiunculae criticae was published in his honor .
