Günther Giovannoni

Günther Giovannoni (* 1971 ) is a Swiss social anthropologist . He has been director of the Swiss National Sound Archives since March 2019 and was previously President of the Museum Commission of the Swiss Ethnological Society.

Career

Giovannoni studied ethnology at the University of Zurich and at the Centro de Antropología in Havana ( Cuba ). Since 2007 he has worked at the Museo delle Culture (MUSEC) in Lugano . In 2013, Giovannoni was elected President of the Museum Commission of the Swiss Ethnological Society (SAA / SEG / SSE) for three years as the successor to Thomas Psota from the Bernisches Historisches Museum . He was curator of the MUSEC and lecturer and lecturer at various Italian and Swiss universities.

On March 1, 2019, Günther Giovannoni took over the management of the National Sound Library in Lugano from Pio Pellizzari , who was retiring. The change in leadership was announced on November 30, 2018. Giovannoni resigned as President of the Museum Commission in February, which he was re-elected in 2016.
