Pio Pellizzari (2019)

Pio Pellizzari (* 1954 in Rheinfelden ) is a Swiss musicologist and librarian . He was Director of the Swiss National Sound Archives from 1998 to February 2019 and has been Vice President of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) since 2005 .

Career

Pellizzari studied musicology , Romance studies and French literature . He was a research assistant for musicology at the libraries of the Universities of Lausanne and Friborg (Switzerland) . He researched the musical heritage, compiled catalogs of musical works and wrote articles for the Historical Lexicon of Switzerland . Pellizzari taught music at the state secondary school in Freiburg im Üechtland . The University of Zurich appointed him a lecturer in 2003/2004 . As a librarian at the University of Friborg (Switzerland), he created a sound archive for them .

Pellizzari became director of the Swiss National Sound Archives in Lugano in 1998 , which was renamed the National Sound Archives in 2007. On March 1, 2019, he handed over the management of the National Sound Archives to Günther Giovannoni and retired. The change in leadership was announced on November 30, 2018.

Pellizzari has been Vice President of the IASA since 2005 and chairman of the training and further education committee he founded. From 2009 to 2016 he was chairman of the IASA country group Germany / Switzerland and president of the Svizzera italiana section of the Swiss Society for Music Research . Pellizzari was a member of the Museum Council of the Swiss National Museum in Zurich until December 2018 . He was a long-standing member of the board of Memoriav and, as of March 2019, a member of the board of trustees of the following foundations : Swiss Dance Archives, Hallwyl Foundation and the RSI Foundation for Cultural Heritage.
