Günther Hansen

Günther Hansen (born May 17, 1919 , † July 22, 1968 ) was a German theater scholar .

Life

Hansen studied theater studies at the University of Cologne , among others with Carl Niessen . Hansen received his doctorate in 1961 with a dissertation on the Danish national theater in Odense . His posthumous dissertation , published only posthumously in 1984 , deals with the Commedia dell'arte in Germany. Hansen taught at the University of Cologne and worked there intensively in the theater studies collection .

His work was characterized by the intensive examination of visual sources. Hansen was appointed professor of theater studies at the University of Copenhagen in 1968 , but died before he could begin his new role.
