Günther Heymann

Günther Heymann (born June 28, 1917 in Chemnitz ) is a German immunologist and physician.

Heymann had been a scientific member of the Paul Ehrlich Institute in Langen since 1957 . From 1962 he was acting head of the Paul Ehrlich Institute as the successor to Richard Prigge until he was replaced by Niels Kaj Jerne in 1966 and after his departure in 1969 he was acting head again until 1974, at a time when the institute became a federal authority (1972). From 1962 he was also provisional director of the Georg-Speyer-Haus . He had the title of professor.

Among other things, he dealt with the assessment of vaccines and blood tests, bacterial toxins ( Shigella ), chemotherapy and diagnosis of syphilis.

In 1961 he received the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize .
