Oshiro Chojo

Oshiro Chojo (* 1888 ; † 1935 ) was a Japanese martial arts expert in Karate and Kobudō in Shuri , Okinawa , famous for his mastery of Yamani-ryu , which he refined to Oshiro-ha Yamani-ryu .

Life

The date of birth is usually given as 1888, but it could also be 1889.

He learned Shuri-te from Itosu Yasutsune . and the Kobudō at Tawada Shinboku . He was also a student of Masaru Yamane no Chinen . He was a Kobudo master. With Shinen Sanda he later learned the Kobudo of Yamani-ryu, which he later interpreted himself and is now known as Oshiro ha Yamanni ryu .

He learned the Tomari-te from Oyadomari Kōkan .

He practiced in the dojo of Chinen Sanda Peichin , where he also taught after his departure. He also taught karate and bojutsu in public schools. He also taught Kobudo at Shihan Gakku and Cogyu Gakku in Shuri .

He was a member of the Okinawa Death Research Club (Okinawa Tode Kenkyukai).

Among his students were Chotoku Maeshiro (1909–1979) and from 1926 Kinjo Hiroshi .

Oshiro Chojo died in 1935.
