Günther Isenbügel (born October 13, 1922 , † September 5, 1996 in Inzell ) was a German sports reporter and motor sportsman.

Life

Günther Isenbügel, who worked for Norddeutscher Rundfunk ( NDR ), was one of the most popular sports and radio reporters of the 1950s and 1960s. His passion was mainly motor sports , cycling and winter sports such as ice hockey , figure skating and bobsleigh . Since 1952 he has reported regularly from the Olympic Games . He took part in the Tour de France 32 times .

Isenbügel was also active and successful as a rally driver himself ; In 1962, for example, he clinched class victory as a privateer at the Monte Carlo Rally . Together with Helmut Rathjen he founded the Scuderia Hanseat in 1958 and organized together with Rathjen from 21. – 24. April 1958 the first sports driver course (safety training) on ​​the Nürburgring . In 1956 he took part in the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring with a Ford Thunderbird, but had an engine failure; Rathjen was the second driver.
