Günther Herbs
Günther Kräuter (born December 30, 1956 in Leoben ; † August 7, 2021 in the Schladminger Tauern ) was an Austrian civil servant, politician ( SPÖ ) and member of the National Council . He was the SPÖ spokesman for leisure policy as well as the auditor's office. On November 24, 2008, he was appointed federal manager of the SPÖ. From 2013 to 2019 he served as ombudsman in charge of social care, health, youth and family, and acted as general secretary of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).
education and profession
Günther Kräuter attended elementary school and then the federal high school in Leoben. In 1972 he moved to the music and pedagogical grammar school in Graz , which he graduated with the Matura in 1976. Herbs then did his military service between 1976 and 1977 and began studying "mining" in 1977 at the Montan University Leoben . After an underground internship in Dortmund , Kräuter changed courses in the 1977/78 winter semester and enrolled in law at the University of Graz . Herbs graduated in 1985 as Dr. iur. away.
Herbs completed his court year between 1985 and 1986 and was an administrative lawyer in Gratkorn from 1986 . In 1991 he moved to the government office of the Styrian state government as secretary and since October 1991 has been employed in the legal department for health care in the office of the Styrian state government. Herbs was appointed to the senior government council in 1998.
politics
Günther Kräuter joined the SPÖ in 1978 and was active with the Styrian Children's Friends. Herbs was a member of the municipal council of the market town of Gratkorn between 1990 and 1995 and from 1990 to 2000 he was the executive district chairman of the SPÖ Graz-Umgebung. Since 2000, Kräuter was district chairman of the SPÖ Graz-Umgebung. In 1998 he became a member of the state party presidium of the SPÖ Styria and has also been regional chairman of the Arbeiterfischer Styria since 1999 .
Herbs represented the SPÖ in the National Council from October 22, 1991 to June 30, 2013. Since 1999 he has been deputy chairman in the constitutional committee and since 2001 deputy chairman in the audit committee.
In April 2019 Bernhard Achitz the SPÖ federal party presidium to succeed Günther herbs as ombudsman nominated and elected on 13 June 2019 by the National Council.
Private
Günther Kräuter was born as the son of a community worker and a social welfare worker. He had been married since 1983 and had two daughters, born in 1988 and 1991 respectively. He died on August 7, 2021 while hiking in the Schladminger Tauern, presumably as a result of a medical emergency.
