Günther Leitner
Günther Leitner (born June 5, 1946 in Linz ) is a retired Austrian cultural manager in the service of the Diocese of Linz .
Live and act
He entered the church service in 1982, where he initially worked as a consultant for telephone counseling . From 1990 to 2000 he was first an organizational officer and then until 2011 head of the Catholic Education Center of the Diocese of Linz, which had been in existence since 1943 . In this function he was the superior of 22 employees who look after around 2,500 volunteer employees of the local facilities of the Catholic Education Center in the parishes of the Diocese of Linz.
Leitner is credited with the development of the Catholic Educational Organization of the Diocese of Linz into a modern organization of general adult education among the top Austrian adult education organizations.
The cornerstones were in 1994 the formation of an umbrella organization for play groups and parent education events under the uniform brand SPIEGEL, in 1998 the sponsorship of the quality seal of the Adult Education Forum Upper Austria and in 2000 the implementation of the SIMA study by the University of Erlangen in the SELBA project - Self-employed in old age for the federal state Upper Austria. Together with the state of Upper Austria, the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture and the European Social Fund , the project Management Competence in Voluntary Work, Added Value for Society and Work, was initiated. The introduction of regional guides as a link between the diocesan office and the volunteers in the parishes turned out to be a professional innovation .
Leitner is married and has a daughter and a son.
