Günther Michler

Günther Michler (* 1942 in Falkenstein ) is a German geographer and publicist .

Life

Günther Michler received his doctorate in 1973 on the heat balance of the Sylvenstein reservoir and was Academic Director at the Institute for Geography at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich until 2005 . The focus of his professional publications is on the hydrogeography and sedimentology of almost all larger lakes in Bavaria and the Northern Alps. They deal in particular with investigations of temperature, heat and material balance as well as the extraction of drill cores from the aforementioned lakes and their analytical processing with regard to sediment, climate and environmental parameters. He is also active as an author, co-author or editor of numerous popular scientific atlases and nature books.
