Günther Neureuther

Günther Neureuther (born August 6, 1955 in Steingaden ) was one of the most successful judo fighters in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Life

In 1966 he started judo at TSV Peiting . In 1971 he was appointed to the German National Youth Team for the first time, and from 1973 to 1988 he was a member of the German National Judo Team.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he finished second and received the Silver Laurel Leaf for it.

In 1984 he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . Neureuther also took third place in the world championships in 1979, 1983 and 1985 and became European champion in 1984.

Günther Neureuther has been awarded the 8th Dan since April 2017 . In May 2018, the Bavarian Judo Association made him an honorary member.

From 1995 to 2011 he was chairman of the judo department of TSV Peiting and was made an honorary member on October 30, 2006 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of TSV Peiting. Since 2011 he has been president of TSV Peiting with 2500 members.

He worked for the riot police in Munich for 29 years and from 2002 to 2015 at the Schongau police station.
