Günther Steinbach

Günther Steinbach (* 1934 in Vienna ; † April 28, 2020 ) was an Austrian civil servant and non-fiction author .

After studying law , he made a career in the Ministry of Social Affairs. Between 1982 and 1999, Steinbach was head of the labor market policy section and played a key role in the spin-off of the AMS from the social department and its development into a modern service organization. From 1994 to 2010 he was Chairman of the AMS Board of Directors. Günther Steinbach was also active as a non-fiction author; his first book Fateful Days of Europe was published in 2002. Together with Martin Haidinger , he wrote the book Our Hitler , which came out in 2009. The Günther Steinbach Academy of the AMS is named after him.
