Günther van Norden

Günther van Norden (born October 24, 1928 in Cologne ; † November 21, 2018 in Bonn - Mehlem ) was a German church historian .

Van Norden studied history and German at the University of Cologne , where he received his doctorate in 1956. He taught in Wuppertal from 1961 to 1993. First, he was a lecturer at the Department of Wuppertal University of Teacher Education Rhineland and later newly established at the 1972 Comprehensive University of Wuppertal .

His main research interests were contemporary ecclesiastical history and the history of the Confessing Church and its opponents.
