Sercan Güvenışık (born March 1, 1980 in Ankara ) is a former Turkish soccer player and current player adviser who also has German citizenship.
Career
Güvenışık started his football career at VSC 1862 Donauwörth . Then he moved to the D-youth of FC Augsburg and played there until he moved to the B-youth of FC Bayern Munich . In the A-Jugend he moved back to Augsburg and was pulled up to the 1st team in 1998, where the striker played for a year in the Regionalliga , performed well and scored 10 goals, after which he moved to MSV Duisburg at the age of 19 . With the Zebras he played six times in the Bundesliga (no goal) and 74 times in the 2nd Bundesliga (12 goals) until 2003.
In July 2003 Güvenışık moved to the Turkish first division club Denizlispor , which he left after only six months to join the southern regional division 1. SC Feucht . He then moved again to the first Turkish league to Vestel Manisaspor . He returned to Germany after a year due to wage irregularities. In the second half of the Regionalliga Nord 2005/06 he laced his football boots for Preußen Münster . There he scored six goals in 11 games, became a crowd favorite ("King Güve"), but could not prevent the traditional club from relegating to the Oberliga Westfalen. This was also due to a serious injury to the cruciate ligament, suffered in the championship game against the second team of 1. FC Köln , which put him out of action for 5 weeks.
From summer 2006 he was in the squad of the second division club FC Carl Zeiss Jena , but had to undergo surgery on the damaged cruciate ligament and was out for six months. In June 2007 he signed a one-year contract with the regional division Rot-Weiss Essen . For the 2008/09 season Güvenışık moved to third division club SC Paderborn 07 . At SC Paderborn 07 he was briefly suspended on April 27, 2009 because of his misconduct after being substituted. With the SC 07 Güvenışık rose at the end of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the preliminary round of the 2009/10 season he came to nine second division appearances, but did not complete a game over the full season. During the winter break, Güvenisik returned to Prussia Münster.
On January 29, 2012 Güvenışık dissolved his contract in Münster and signed in the Major League Soccer with the San José Earthquakes . In the 2012 season he was in the squad in 20 games, but only came to five appearances. He ended his career in November 2012.
Sercan Güvenışık played three U-17 games and three U-21 games for Turkey.
After the end of his career, he started his own business as a player consultant.
