The GAUwahnen are a political cabaret that was founded by Erhard Jöst in Heilbronn in 1988 . The name of the group is a word invention that alludes to a GAU.

history

In the first few years the ensemble performed in various cabaret cellars; Level 3 in the Heilbronn K3 Theater Forum has been his permanent venue since 2001. The cabaret artists also present their programs as guest performances in Germany, but primarily in the Heilbronn region. They often appear at the cabaret festival in Aschersleben , which is organized by the Federal Cabaret Association. The GAUwahnen write their programs themselves. Various numbers have sparked violent reactions: For example, the then Minister of Education of Baden-Württemberg, Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder , had the teacher Jöst checked by inspectors to see whether his lessons “met the requirements of the state constitution, school law and curriculum . ”The reason for this“ state action ”was a parody of the national anthem.

After the German reunification, the GAUwahnen are in friendly contact with the cabaret Die Oderhähne from Heilbronn's twin town Frankfurt (Oder) . Since 1993 the GAUwahnen have been presenting a night of German unity on October 2nd together with cabaret artists from the new federal states . The GAUwahnen were also on stage with Dieter Hildebrandt in 1994 and 2008 in Heilbronn. They also enriched Heilbronn's cultural life with the Naheilka (= night of the Heilbronn cabaret artists ). With skits, songs, conferences and solo numbers, the GAUwahnen take the political events, but also everyday social life into their satirical sights. They try to expose intrigues and opportunistic acts and with their satires give the audience laughter and food for thought. The songs are accompanied by piano and saxophone.

ensemble

From 1997 the GAUwahnen appear in a constant line-up: in addition to Erhard Jöst, Alexandra Müller-Kilgus, Eva Schwindt-Läpple and Niklas Albrecht and the ensemble also belong to the ensemble.
