Gealan Fenster-Systeme GmbH is a plastics processing company that produces profile systems for windows and doors . The company is headquartered across Europe in Oberkotzau bei Hof (Saale) .
history
The roots of the company group go back to 1921, when Adam Fickenscher founded a fur processing company in Schlegel bei Hof . In 1947 the company with 200 employees moved to Oberkotzau. In 1956, Theo Fickenscher, son of the company founder, started a new branch of the company: plastics processing. The products, which included water hoses, handrails and clotheslines, were henceforth marketed under the brand name Gealan. In 1968 he produced window profiles for the first time and developed them consistently over the next ten years.
When "Gealan Werk Fickenscher GmbH" was founded in 1979, the product name Gealan became the company name. A year later, acrylcolor was produced , a weatherproof and colourfast window profile that is manufactured using the co-extrusion process. In 1988 fur processing and clothing was discontinued. Due to the constantly increasing demand, Gealan Tanna Fenster-Systeme GmbH was founded in 1992 in Tanna, Thuringia . In 1994 the technical training center in Döhlau in Upper Franconia went into operation.
In 1997 the subsidiaries SC Gealan ROMANIA and Gealan Polska were entered in the commercial register. In the same year Gealan founded a new plant in Lithuania . Two years later, Gealan Service GmbH started work at the Oberkotzau site. In order to relieve the headquarters, Gealan opened a modern logistics center in Tanna in 2001, which was expanded in 2004. In the same year, the subsidiary Gealan Polska started extrusion of window profiles in order to be able to serve the regional market promptly. Furthermore, the trading company Gealan doo was founded in Croatia , as well as the Moscow representative office in 2004 , and a year later, in 2005, a branch in France in the form of a trading company.
In 2007, the Gealan Polska production facility in Poland, which began in 2004, reached its limits, which made it necessary to expand production as well as administration and logistics. In the same year, OOO Gealan Fenster-Profiles was founded in Moscow to further develop the Russian market. The company has been part of VEKA AG since 2014 . In 2018 the technical training center in Döhlau was closed and relocated to Oberkotzau with an investment volume of four million euros. Around 150 specialists develop new window systems there.
The Gealan group of companies
The Gealan Group is one of the leading providers of PVC-U window systems. In 2018, the company generated sales of 240 million euros with its products, window and door profiles made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), tool making for plastic extrusion, as well as marketing and advertising services.
Gealan has production sites in Germany (Tanna), Lithuania ( Wilna ), Poland ( Rzgow ) and Romania ( Bucharest ), as well as sales companies in other European countries. Gealan's range of services is supplemented at its headquarters in Oberkotzau by Gealan Service GmbH (GDL), an in-house agency with marketing and advertising support for window manufacturers.

The product range includes various profile systems for windows and doors.
Gealan-SMOOVIO. Thanks to the sliding system's completely roller-mounted construction, the sashes can be moved easily. When opening, the wing is parked along the axis without lifting the total weight of the wing element or pivoting it out of the element plane. Another advantage of Gealan-SMOOVIO is the low system depth of 150 mm in the sash and frame.
Gealan-KUBUS ® meets the requirements of modern architecture. Gealan's premium system is used throughout Europe in demanding construction projects. It defines a new design language for plastic windows in architecture. More light and transparency through large glass surfaces open up new design options. The all-glass system achieves a tested Uf value of 0.88 W / (m²K) and thus meets the criteria of ift passive house suitability .
Gealan-STV® (static dry glazing) is a system for dry bonding of the pane and the sash overlap. It has decisive advantages compared to the otherwise common wet process. This involves gluing the glass and sash profile with an adhesive tape specially designed for window construction while maintaining the usual blocking of the glass. With the intensive core insulation, the IKD® technology foamed wing profiles in connection with the static dry glazing STV® achieve Uf values of <0.89 W / (m²K).
acrylcolor . When coloring method of coextrusion of the white are PVC base material and the colored acrylic glass in a single pass inextricably linked. This merging of the two materials creates a semi-gloss, colored outer profile surface that can withstand the weather without any problems.
Digital services
A virtual window showroom was developed in 2018: Interested parties can view living spaces and window profiles with virtual reality glasses. There is also an app that uses augmented reality to make technical details visible from different angles.
In the area of construction planning, Gealan offers planning software with BIM window models : Architects can export the window types in the profile systems in Revit and IFC format.
