GFG Progetti is an Italian design studio founded in 2015 by Giorgio Giugiaro and his son Fabrizio , using the GFG Style brand name . The company is active in the field of industrial design and focuses on the design of automobiles.

Company history

The designer Giorgio Giugiaro, born in 1938, had been head of design at the Bertone body construction company since 1959 and held a comparable position at Carrozzeria Ghia from 1965 . In 1967 he set up his own company, Ital Styling, for himself. A year later, Ital Design was founded , for which his son Fabrizio later also worked. In the following decades, Italdesign designed more than 200 vehicles, many of which went into series production, but also styling studies and exhibits. In 1999 Giorgio Giugiaro was voted “Designer of the Century”. In 2010 Giugiaro sold 90 percent of the Italdesign shares to the Volkswagen Group , in 2015 Audi took over the rest. Giorgio Giugiaro and his son Fabrizio then ended their work at Italdesign.

In 2015 they founded GFG Progetti in Moncalieri in the metropolitan city of Turin . The company name is made up of the initials of the founders. So far, the company has mainly worked for Chinese clients and developed concepts for hybrid and electric vehicles. The first project was the AT96 and GT96 sports car studies for the Chinese research company Techrules , which are powered by electric motors and a gas turbine . The models were presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016 . The further development Techrules Ren, also designed by GFG, appeared in 2017. The company was represented with its own stand at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. GFG presented the Sibylla sports sedan developed for the Chinese energy company Envision , a study with gullwing doors and four electric motors geared towards autonomous driving.
