Gym och Idrottsföreningen Nike , usually abbreviated as GIF Nike , is a Swedish sports club from the Skåne Lomma . The football team entered Sweden's second-highest division at times in the 1960s .
history
GIF Nike was founded on May 22, 1919 and named itself after the Greek goddess of victory Nike . At first, the soccer team only appeared in a lower class, but after the third division promotion at the end of 1961 it immediately established itself in the top division of its third division season. In 1964, the team dominated their season and rose as the season winner with eight points ahead of Råå IF in the second division.
As a newcomer, GIF Nike placed third in the table in the first second division season in the club's history, but was eleven points behind season winner GAIS . However, they could not build on this success, after only one win of the season in the 1966 season, the club rose from bottom of the table together with Mönsterås GIF and Malmö BI again. In the following years, GIF Nike mainly shuttled between the third and fourth level, in a league reform in 1986 the club was classified in the fifth division and then competed in the fourth and fifth division with several promotions and relegations.
