The GP-30 ( Russian: ГП-30, Гранатомёт Подствольный , Granatomjot Podstwolnyj , in German: Unterlauf- Grenadewerfer ) is an infantry weapon that was developed for the Soviet armed forces. The GRAY index of the weapon is 6G21 .
Technology and commitment
The original GP-25 model was developed in the 1970s and incorporated into the equipment of the Soviet Army in 1978 . The revised design GP-30 was lighter, shorter and less expensive to manufacture. The visor was installed on the right side. In 1989 it was officially taken over into the arsenal of the armed forces. Like its predecessor, the launcher is mounted under the barrel of assault rifles. It is used, for example, on the AK-74 or the AK-107 .
This makes it the Russian counterpart to the American M203 grenade launcher . In contrast to the M203, the launcher is loaded through the muzzle. Pressing the trigger first cocks the hammer and then releases the shot.
The following grenades can be fired from the weapon:
- WOG-25: Frag grenade
- WOG-25P: jumping fragmentation grenade; jumps about three feet after impact and then detonates
- GRD-40: smoke grenade
