Gabriel de León , full name Gabriel de León Villegas , (born March 3, 1993 in Santa Catalina ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Born in Santa Catalina, de León was the eldest of five sons of Gastón De León and Adriana Villegas.

De León began playing football at Club Santa Catalina in baby fútbol and then played in the youth teams. Already at the age of 13 he was used in the U-20 age group. At this point he moved to the capital club Danubio FC . There he first started in the team of the Séptima División and then went through the other junior teams. The 1.73 meter tall defensive player finally made his debut under coach Daniel Sánchez in a 1-1 draw against the Montevideo Wanderers in the first team. For Danubio, he played eight games in the Primera División in the 2011/12 season . In the following season he came to nine more appearances in the top Uruguayan league and ran twice in the Copa Sudamericana . At Apertura 2013 he switched to Club Atlético Cerro on loan . There he was used twelve times in the Primera División in the 2013/14 season (no goal). Even during the current season he joined in 2014 the second division Villa Teresa also as part of a loan to. In the Segunda División he completed 15 games (no goal) by the end of the season. In the 2014/15 season he contributed to the club's promotion with 19 second division appearances and two goals. For the first division season 2015/16 there are 29 league appearances (two goals). The club was relegated again. At the beginning of July 2016 he moved to the first division promoted Rampla Juniors .
National team
De León played for the U-15 national team of Uruguay for the first time as a 14-year-old. He was a member of the Uruguayan U-20 team coached by Juan Verzeri from at least June 2012 to December 2012 . At a tournament in the province of Chaco , he was used as a starting XI for the U-20s in the semi-finals against Brazil on June 28, 2012.
