Soccer

history

The association was founded on June 1, 1941. In 1975 the club's soccer team won the championship in Primera D. 1984 and in 1999 the club secured the title in the top amateur class, the Segunda División Amateur. 1999 they sat in the three finals for the championship and promotion in the league, then known as the Liga Metropolitana Amateur , against Uruguay Montevideo . The coach at Villa Teresa was Vito Beato . Eduardo Rodríguez scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory in the third final . The following season was spent in professional football in the Segunda División, but closed the year 2000 as the penultimate of the annual overall table and penultimate in the relegation ranking and had to return to amateur football. This was followed by a temporary merger with Salus FC and Huracán del Paso de la Arena to form Alianza FC . However, the merged club did not receive a game permit in the 2001 season because Villa Teresa and Salus FC had not paid off liabilities. He then joined the second highest professional league from 2002 to relegation at the end of the 2004 season. At the same time, no team from Villa Teresa took part in any of the top three Uruguayan leagues. In 2005 the merger club dissolved again. For the 2007/08 season, Villa Teresa requested the re-admission of his team to the third-class Liga Metropolitana de Fútbol. After approval, they won the Apertura 2007 and finished the Clausura 2008 in 2nd place in the table. However, a newcomer was not determined that season. In the 2010/11 season, the club won the 2011 Clausura in the Segunda B Amateur after a third place in the Apertura 2010 . In the semifinals for promotion to the second highest professional league in Uruguay, the Segunda División, they prevailed against the Apertura winner Colón FC after a 1-1 draw with 8: 7 on penalties . This forced a final against the same opponent, who had also decided the year-end table in his favor. In this final, Villa Teresa again secured a return to professional football under coach Vito Beato with a 4-1 win with goals from Janéyler Rivas , Pablo De Simone , Gastón Fonseca and César Romero . The successful sporting season was overshadowed by the death of Villa Teresa supporter Marcelo López, who was shot by a fan of the opposing team on November 7, 2010 on the occasion of the club's 4-1 win away game at Oriental in La Paz . As a result of this incident, twelve points were deducted from the opposing club in the 2010 Apertura. The 2011/12 season ended as bottom of the table ten points behind. However, this remained in relation to the preservation of the league without consequences, since no relegated team was determined that year. In the 2012/13 season, the club's team avoided relegation to the top amateur class. They took part in this as 13th and thus penultimate in the final table and ultimately prevailed with two wins against Huracán FC, which, however, also remained in professional football despite relegated sports. After completing the two half-series of the 2013/14 season, Villa Teresa was ranked 8th. This meant qualification for the promotion playoff round. In this one advanced to the final. The two finals against the Rampla Juniors ended in a 0-0 draw on June 28, 2014 and July 6, 2014. The subsequent penalty shoot-out was lost 2: 4. Thus Villa Teresa remained in the second highest professional league in Uruguay. After completing Apertura 2014, the club's team finished in 7th place.
